[Sebastian will, as always, be right on time. Whether he's the first to arrive or not, he raises his eyebrows questioningly at Johann once they see each other. Well?]

[Johann is, for once, early, waiting on him. And he says nothing for a moment, taking his bone knife from his pocket, the one that he has always carried. He places it against the door to the upper deck, the one locked to wardens and silently opens the now unlocked door.]

[Sebastian stares at the open door for several seconds, at first not really comprehending since it's not at all what he expected... and then it clicks.]

[Johann graduated. Johann, who has gone on several murder sprees, who helped that little alchemical construct (who also graduated) rip a hole in the dining hall and kill even more people, who is rude and uncouth and still violent, graduated.]

[He just names it because it's obvious. He knows it.]

That's why I'm telling you now instead of when I announce it to everyone.

[He chuckles softly. It is, of course, not a mirthful laugh.]

And of course. Why waste the chance of a granted Deal, after all. I shall have to offer my congratulations to Lord Leickenbloom as well.

[He holds up a finger.]

And if you say anything about that godsdamned deal, I will swap places in the kitchen with the most ineffective person I can find. This place is full of idiots I will torment you with.

[Sebastian reaches out, snake-quick, to grab Johann's finger. And breaks it.]

Oh, by all means assign whoever you deem fit to work in the kitchens. That is your prerogative.

[He's spent the past six months enduring Emet-Selch's monsters, fighting them past the point of exhaustion, honing his magic and his abilities. But with Sebastian, he's only showed about five percent of that effort. Because it was, at the time, what he felt he deserved. But no more. He floods his body with magic, healing the finger even faster than he could naturally.

He reaches out with his other hand, pushing magic into muscles and joints and tendons to strike Sebastian across the face, simultaneously hardening his bones to prevent them from breaking.]

No more, you little prick. You want to see who's in charge? It's fucking me now.

[He grins, but it's strained.]

So you can get your head out of your perfect little ass and be my friend, or you can do what's familiar and fall in line.

But either way, I'm done being pushed around by someone who is too afraid to try.

[Johann's fist connects - Sebastian isn't used to Johann fighting back, and he has always had a casual relationship with self-preservation anyway - and blood splatters from Sebastian's mouth onto the deck. Johann's normal strength wouldn't be enough to fell him, but the added force of magic has Sebastian actually stumble and take support against the railing.

He turns to face Johann, wipes his mouth, and his eyes are glowing red and cat-like, angry in a way he's never been with Johann before.]

Careful, Mr Kinderwellen. I believe violence against Inmates gets one demoted.

[He raises himself up, throwing his shoulders back as he rubs his fist. He takes only...a small amount of pleasure in that.

But mostly, he's - disappointed. Exceptionally so, and there's guilt and sadness and anger that swirl and harden in his chest.]

Killing an inmate will. I have no intention of that.

But if you don't want to be my friend, if you want to continue this charade where you pretend like you don't give a shit, then I will let you. And we'll settle this like the monsters we are, Herr Michaelis.

He doesn't mind being the one to leave and turns on his heel to storm off, slamming the door to the deck in his wake.]
