He wants to continue being friends with Johann. But also:

"I want to wrangle his graduation from him and take it for myself."

"I like your motivation. But you can't take his graduation for yourself no matter how many of his fingers you break," Hakkai remarks, leaning back in his chair.

It's not as if Sebastian doesn't know, but... the pointlessness of it does deserve a little rubbing in.

After a moment, he adds, "If you're feeling sufficiently frustrated to need to hit someone, next time, let me know, Sebastian. You and I can meet out on deck."

He does, in fact, have to resist the temptation of punching Hakkai right then and there, clasping his hands in his lap. Brat.

"There will be no need for that, I am sure. Mr Kinderwellen is the only one here I have been injuring regularly despite the number of people who deserve it; refraining from hitting one more person is nothing."

He has the self-control not to hit a person even if he really wants to.

"Oh, I'm sure. But the offer remains open," Hakkai murmurs lightly. "What kind of relationship do you want with Johann, Sebastian?"

"I said already that I am angry with him, did I not?"

And he is not in the mood to contemplate how to be a better friend, or whatever nonsense Johann was going on about. (And hasn't had any time to consider what he wants, for that matter: Johann has been ruminating on this for weeks; this was Sebastian's first indication that things weren't fine between them.)

"Your homework is to be able to answer that question by next week," Hakkai says, chair scraping loudly as he slides it back and picks up his teacup.

"What does it matter when we have already agreed on how to proceed", Sebastian mutters, but at least he doesn't demand a different homework (well, not out loud). He also slides his chair back.

"Thank you for the tea."

He never touched his second cup and it's cold by now, but.

"You're welcome." He bows politely, scooping up Sebastian's cup as well, and doesn't comment on the fact that he never drank the second cup.

"Take care, Sebastian."

He'll 'take care' by deep-cleaning every inch of his cabin ten times all night through, is what he'll do.
