I was wondering if you would hold my warden item for me.

[With Justine's location and her life/death status.]

I know no one will be more solicitous of her welfare than you.

[If Sebastian had a nickel for every time a warden has entrusted their warden item to him he'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, which is weird because it should happen a lot more often.]

[He doesn't smile, but it's still evident how pleased he is. Finally, some overdue acknowledgment - it would be so easy for Jedao to just hand his Item over to Hakkai instead--]

I do. I don't know when the Admiral will be able to fetch me back again, but hopefully it will be less time for y'all than for me.

It would seem that is usually the case. Very good; it would be quite inconvenient should you not.

[He produces a small pack of cards from a pocket. They're mass-produced, but by hexarchate standards, so they're still beautiful and high quality. They have trumps like tarot cards, and gears, eyes, roses, and doors instead of the Earth suits. For a moment, he doesn't want to give them over - although not because it's Sebastian.]

They were a gift.

[A soft murmur, because he's sure Sebastian didn't miss the flicker of reluctance.]

[He didn't miss it, no, so the clarification is wise: Sebastian does tend towards uncharitable interpretations, after all. Even if Jedao gets less of that, usually.]

I understand. I will keep them safe, I assure you. [Sebastian doesn't put any importance in physical objects, but he understands that humans and, apparently, whatever Jedao is, do.]

[He couldn't give them up at all, otherwise. They were the first truly kind gesture he ever received. And for a long time, the last. He holds them out.]

[Sebastian takes them, puts them securely in an inner pocket of his suit jacket.]
